Inspire Inclusion on International Women’s Day
This Friday marks the celebration of International Women’s Day, a global event started in March of 1911 that recognizes the remarkable achievements of women in social, economic, cultural, and political spheres. This year’s theme, #InspireInclusion, resonates deeply with our company culture and values.
To ‘inspire inclusion,’ our talented female tech and cybersecurity professionals share their insights as ‘Women in Tech’ for those considering careers in these STEM fields.
Jacquelyn Shay, Business Analyst
What is your role at archTIS?
I am a business analyst at archTIS, and my day-to-day tasks can vary each day. I might document business processes one day and determine requirements the next, depending on where the team needs me and where my skills can offer the best value.
My role keeps things interesting and allows me to be involved in many different stages of a product’s lifecycle. It is a constant learning experience, both professionally and personally, and I enjoy the variety it brings to my work each day.
Why is it important to you to be a woman in tech?
As a woman in tech, I find empowerment in challenging and breaking the ongoing stereotype, demonstrating that success is possible in any field, not limited by gender.
Serving as a role model, I aim to inspire other women (and girls) who also share a passion for tech and innovation and want to pursue a career in the industry. I believe in fostering a more inclusive industry where everyone, regardless of gender, feels welcome and capable of contributing to positive societal changes and advancements in technology.
Melanie Titley, Project Delivery Manager
What is your role at archTIS?
I am the Project Delivery Manager, where I am responsible for the delivery of all projects within archTIS. I have been working in IT for over 20 years and delivery projects for over 12 of those. I have worked in different roles within IT, and I really enjoy the challenge projects bring, which has kept me in the space for the longest. Every project brings something new, and knowing it’s contributing to improvements being made and that I get to learn something new with each project motivates me to continue to deliver projects.
Why is it important to you to be a woman in tech?
I feel, as a general rule, women have different strengths and weaknesses from men. I strongly believe a healthy balance of women and men results in the best outcomes. Over the years, I have seen many women significantly contributing and delivering great outcomes across the different companies and entities I have worked in. Therefore, women play just as important a role as men in tech and need to continue to be encouraged and supported to do different roles in the IT sector.
Building a Culture of Equality
At archTIS, we take pride in recognizing women’s achievements and inspiring inclusion not just on 8th March but every single day as an essential part of our corporate culture. In July of 2023, archTIS was awarded an Ellect Silver Star of Equality. Ellect named archTIS the most inclusive information security company on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), with women represented at every level of its leadership team. archTIS’ industry-leading gender equality achievements were profiled in Ellect founder Sandra D’Souza’s bestselling book “From Bias to Equality: How business leaders can drive innovation, success and profitability by embracing true gender balance.”
